Significant events identified by Satellite Analysis Branch meteorologists and reviewed by the Operational Significant Event Imagery support team Thursday November 5, 2009 are as follows:

IMAGE D6140: GOES-12 <> Image Type=combine <> 11/5/2009 17:15 UTC.
At 1500 UTC on November 5 the National Hurricane Center reported that Hurricane Ida was located at 13.1N 83.7W moving northwest at 6 mph with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. Ida is inland over east-central Nicaragua.

IMAGE D6140: NOAA-17 <> Image Type=combine <> 11/4/2009 23:27:29 UTC.
Multiple large fires were burning in western Queensland. Smoke plumes from fires can be seen in this NOAA-17 satellite image taken at 2327 UTC.
